Packing Tips

Beds

Ø      Will be dismantled and setup for you in your new home by City Wide Moving Inc.

 

Clocks

Ø      Tightly secure pendulums to the base of the clock or remove pendulums prior to transport.  For Grandfather Clocks, remove chimes, weights and pendulums.

 

Dishes

Ø      When packing dishes pack the heaviest on the bottom and the lightest on the top of the box.  When packing plates, bundle up to 4 and place them in the box vertically; not flat.  Tea cups, small glasses placed on the top of the box.  Place 2-3 inches of cushion or paper between each layer.

 

Drawers in Furniture

Ø      No need to empty all drawers.  Pack blankets, pillows, clothing and linens in the drawers.  Do not leave anything heavy, hard, liquid or perishable in drawers.

 

Food

Ø      All food should be secured upon transport.  We are not liable for damage caused by food spilling on other items.  Exceptions on transporting perishable foods for local moves can be made upon request.

 

Jewelry & Other Valuables

Ø      City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for jewelry, legal documents and currency.  Keep these items with you at all times.

 

Lamps

Ø      Most lamps can be wrapped and placed in small boxes.  City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for tall, metal, thin lamps unless disassembled.

 

Lampshades

Ø      Pack in boxes and use white tissue paper.  Newspaper will stain your lampshade.  City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for lamps or lampshades not in boxes.

 

Mowers & Gasoline Powered Tools

Ø      All tanks must be empty for transport. 

 

Paintings & Pictures

Ø      Please inform us of any painting over $2,000 since it will need special packing supplies.  City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for non-disclosed painting values. 

 

Pianos

Ø      City Wide Moving Inc. can move any size piano.  There is an additional charge for this service.  A $250 fee will be assessed for grand pianos.

 

Plants

Ø      We encourage all living plants to be transported by you.  City Wide Moving is not liable for any living plants.

 

Refrigerators

Ø      Disconnecting and reconnecting will be done upon request.  A waiver will need to be signed in order to reconnect.  City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for leaking water lines.

 

Stereos & Sound Systems

Ø      If possible, pack these items in boxes.  City Wide Moving Inc. will pad any items unable to fit in boxes.  We are not liable for any electronic components or electrical equipment unless the box is damaged in transit.

 

TV’s & Flat Screens

Ø      For those that will not fit in boxes, we will pack to ensure a safe transit.

 

Toiletries

Ø      Please pack in plastic bags or place masking tape on the top of anything that could spill.  City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for spilled items.

 

Washers

Ø      Disconnecting and reconnecting will be done upon request.  A waiver will need to be signed in order to reconnect.  City Wide Moving Inc. is not liable for leaking water lines.
